Society Structure and Operation

The objective of the RSPSoc is: to advance the education of the Public in the many fields of remote sensing and photogrammetry. The Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry Society (RSPSoc) is a registered Charity (Charity No. 292647) and a company limited by guarantee. It exists to promote educational activities in remote sensing and photogrammetry to the public. The Governing Instrument (constitution) sets out how this is done: The Memorandum and Articles of Association

The general management of the Society is carried out by its Council. Council is assisted by a series of Technical Committees which both provide advice and implement Council decisions.

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is usually convened during the month of September of each year. It is open to all voting members. Other members may attend but cannot vote. Council may, at any time, convene an EGM to consider a matter of special or urgent interest.

The AGM conducts various business, including Council Elections and re-appointment of the Auditor and reports on the Annual Review and Accounts. The Annual Review is a report of the Trustees in the preceding year (1 April to 31 March) and is circulated to all Society members. The Annual Review and Accounts (SOFA Format) are a Charity Commission requirement and are submitted annually. A copy of the Accounts (Companies House Format) is also sent to Companies House with its Annual Return.

Council, along with the Technical Committees, delegates its work to the RSPSoc office. The office is based in the School of Geography, University of Nottingham

The history of the RSPSoc, and its two former Societies, is detailed under Heritage (under construction).
