Wednesday 9th April 2008 International Workshop on the theme “Earth Observation for Hazard & Risk Research”
Sponsored by the Remote Sensing & Photogrammetry Society with Institute of Hazard & Risk Research and Department of Geography, Durham University
This is a one-day meeting 11 am to 4.30 pm including morning coffee, lunch and afternoon tea. There will be a small registration fee of £15.
Speakers will include Stuart Marsh, (UK) Ground subsidence; Alex Densmore, (UK) Debris flows; Wolfgang Kainz (Austria), GIS for Hazard analysis; Orhan Altan (Turkey) Earthquake damage assessment; Ian Dowman (UK) Earthquakes and tectonics; Stanley Morain (USA), Health & Risk.
This workshop arises from coincidence of a meeting of the ISPRS Council in the UK and the imminent launch of the Durham University’s Institute of Hazard & Risk Research. Council members have kindly agreed to give state-of-the-art seminars on the topic of hazard & risk research. RSPSoc members are welcome to submit and present posters; there will be time for discussion and circulation around research posters.
