Measuring and Monitoring the Vegetative Environment through Laser Scanning
19th April, 2007 – 19th April, 2007
Meeting theme
The proliferating development and use of laser scanning, both from airborne platforms and the ground, for the measurement and monitoring of the vegetative environment brings benefits to our understanding and sustainable management of the terrestrial biosphere. However, there is much work to be done, both in addressing technical problems of using laser scanning data and informing application developers and policy makers of the real potential of this technology. This workshop aims to bring together the two communities within the UK to facilitate discussion of on-going work and embryonic ideas. It will also be an opportunity to up-date the wider international community of activity within the UK in this rapidly developing area.
Meeting venue
The meeting will be held at the University of Nottingham, in the Sir Clive Granger building which is located centrally within the main University Campus, 3 miles to the West of Nottingham City Centre. There are two centres of excellence at the University with an interest in the meeting; the School of Geography and Institute of Engineering Surveying & Space Geodesy. The University is also home to the RSPSoc’s offices. First Announcement We foresee this meeting having a workshop format with presentations facilitating discussion of on-going work and embryonic ideas.
The main body of the meeting will comprise oral presentations and so we invite abstracts of approximately 300 words to be emailed to the RSPSoc office () by Friday February 9th 2007.
Registration will remain open until the date of the meeting.
