RSPSoc Student Profile: Mr J. Williams

Occupation: Student

University: Swansea

Research: The effects of changes in plant water-use efficiency on the hydrology of a catchment.

Details of Research: The current increasing levels of atmospheric CO2 are likely to lead to changes in vegetation structure and transpiration rates. These changes, in turn, could lead to a change in catchment hydrology. My study will use a combination of tree-ring carbon isotope data and satellite vegetation data to look for any changes in vegetation structure and transpiration rates within a catchment, and correlate them to changes in catchment hydrology.
