GRSG SIG Annual Report 2006-2007
This has been a busy year for the GRSG. In April a joint meeting with the Geological Information Group focussed on Geoscience Applications of Digital Elevation Models (DEMs). June saw a joint meeting with the European Association of Remote Sensing Laboratories, in Warsaw, on Lowland Geohazards. The GRSG annual conference (4-5 Dec) considered Remote sensing for Earth resources: exploration, extraction and environmental impacts. This included keynotes from GRSG’s trans-Atlantic reps: Richard Bedell (USA), Alvaro Crosta (Brazil), Vern Singhroy (Canada) – thanks go to Shell International for their sponsorship of the overseas keynotes. Further, much appreciated, sponsorship was also provided by ER Mapper, Infoterra, ITT (ENVI) and NPA Group. Thanks to the fine efforts of its organising committee, GRSG has started 2007 in a very healthy state: the newsletter and website continue to develop apace; membership is up, including corporate membership; and the size of the GRSG committee has also increased, with plenty of new ideas for future activities…..
