MAT SIG Annual Report 2006-2007
After a period of relative inactivity MAT SIG sprang into life this year. The main highlight was two dedicated sessions at RSPSoc2006. These well-attended sessions, on scaling in remote sensing and super-resolution mapping, involved about a dozen papers from an internationally diverse authorship. Both sessions were organised by Peter Atkinson (University of Southampton) and Curtis Woodcock (Boston University), and many of the papers are scheduled to be published in a special issue of one of the major remote sensing journals. A number of other potential MAT SIG events have been discussed. In particular, the possibilities of holding sessions at conferences, such as the Annual Conference of the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) and Spatial Accuracy 2008, have been explored and it is hoped that some of these will be devolved further to help maintain MAT SIG’s profile.
