SAR Sig Annual Report 1997-1998
The primary aim of the Synthetic Aperture Radar Special Interest Group is to encourage SAR-related activities within the RSS.
Within the last year, our focus was to continue the success of the SAR-SIG session at RSS96 and to hold a SAR session at the 1997 annual conference in Reading. This session again showed the growing interest in SAR research in the UK.
There were papers on a variety of SAR applications, including:
- Methods for mapping crop cover and snowmelt,
- Methods for monitoring environmentally sensitive areas, flooding, geomorphological process and soil moisture.
A similar specialised SAR session is also being planned for RSS98.
Suggestions from members for other specialised activities, such as workshops or one-day meetings, are always welcome.
