SAR Sig Annual Report 1999-2000
After several years of little activity, the SAR SIG has now started to develop a more regular contribution to the RSS and its membership. At the RSS99 conference this year, there was an impressive turn out at the sessions devoted to applications and analysis of radar imagery.
The SAR SIG continually encourages RSS conferences to utilise SAR-specific oral sessions and has been involved with the selection of abstracts for RSS2000.
In the spring, the SAR SIG held a one-day meeting hosted and organised by the Geography Department of the University of Wales, Swansea. This was a productive and busy meeting with attendants from around the UK, from both academia and industry. A report on the meeting was put together by Alison Caldwell and was published in the RSS Newsletter.
As part of a series of articles in the Newsletter last year the SAR-SIG provided a short article giving an introduction and overview to radar remote sensing.
The SAR SIG aims to maintain a strong SAR community within the RSS and plans to focus on holding small meetings on specific themes. Suggestion from members for other specialised activities, such as workshops or one-day meetings, are always welcome.
