Vegetation SIG Annual Report 2006-2007
The Vegetation SIG got going this year after a slight false start with the postponement of its inaugural meeting until RSPSoc2006. A range of excellent presentations were given and much interest was shown in the SIG by the attending delegates. A preponderance of LiDAR applications in the talks initiated discussion with the LiDAR SIG about a potential joint meeting; this finally took place on 19th April 2007 at the University of Nottingham.
The joint LiDAR/VegSIG meeting was a great success with some excellent presentations and thought-provoking discussion of the overlap between the topics. Around 50 attendees were present, with the farthest having come from Texas!
The VegSIG has a session at the forthcoming Annual Conference in Newcastle (our first anniversary!) and some excellent presentations are expected, along with discussion of how members would like to see the SIG develop. Suggestions include a joint MATSIG/VegSIG meeting and a potential triumvirate meeting held jointly between LiDAR, SAR and Veg SIGs. Your suggestions are welcome.
