RSPSoc Annual Student Meeting, 10-11th March 2008

This year’s RSPSoc Annual Student Meeting takes place in the beautiful New Forest at the Foxlease Activity Centre (Lyndhurst) not far from Southampton, 10-11th March 2008. The Centre can be easily reached both via rail (direct links from London Waterloo to Brockenhurst within 1hr 40min) and via air (Southampton airport and Bournemouth airport).

The cost of £38 per person (including 1 night shared accommodation, transport to and from Ordnance Survey, outdoor activity, all food, and proceedings) has been kept very low thanks to the event’s sponsors (Leica Geosystems, Geotechnologies, Intergraph, Blackwell Publishing, Taylor and Francis, Infoterra, BAE Systems, Topcon, English Heritage, Ordnance Survey, EDINA, and ITT).

This is an ideal opportunity for you to present your research within all sectors of remote sensing and photogrammetry (including GIS) in a constructive and informal atmosphere, to get to know new people and learn about their projects.

Abstract submission (max. 250 words for both oral and poster presentation) is still open until Friday the 18th of January 2008. Please submit to ASM08@mkthomson.net and state in your email if you intend to give a poster or oral presentation. If you do not wish to present your work, feel free to register anyway and attend for a bit of fun and networking. Registration is open until Monday the 28th of January 2008.

Places are limited, so don’t miss out on…

Highlights:

*A visit to Ordnance Survey’s Photogrammetric Services Department and Research Labs.

*Prizes for best oral and poster presentations include cash (kindly sponsored by Infoterra) and a 12-month ENVI software licence (sponsored by ITT VIS).

*The opportunity to submit to and publish with the Journal of Maps Student Edition as part of a special issue for the Annual Student Meeting.

*The venue’s grounds and location are great for outdoor activities such as archery, high ropes courses, kayaking, and much more.

Keynotes:

*Paul Aplin, Chairman of RSPSoc, Associate Professor at University of Nottingham.

*Ian Dowman, President of ISPRS, Professor at University College London.

*Intergraph, a leading provider of spatial information management software.

*Alex Koh, Director of Geotechnologies, Principal Lecturer at Bath Spa University.
