Consultation on postgraduate skills needs for the environmental sector
The deadline for consultation on postgraduate skills needs for the environmental science sector is fast approaching.
NERC has issued this public consultation, in conjunction with the Environment Research Funders’ Forum (ERFF), to determine future postgraduate skills needs in the environmental sciences sector. This is an important component of our skills needs review.
Notification of the consultation has been sent directly to well over 500 organisations and individuals in the academic, private and public sectors. This included all members of NERC’s peer review college and a wide range of academic networks. It is a real opportunity for stakeholders to help inform NERC’s future investment (currently over £30m per year) in training and developing postgraduates. It will also help us ensure that there are people, with the right combination of skills and knowledge, available to stakeholders in the research base and public and private sectors in the future.
To take part in the consultation, please download the short consultation paper from http://www.nerc.ac.uk/funding/news/postgradskillsneeds.asp. This provides more information on the skills needs review and gives you the opportunity to contribute to our new draft skills framework. This framework will be used by the Skills Needs Review Board to help develop its recommendations. A reminder that the deadline for responses is Friday 8 January 2010. If you have any queries please contact Amy Foxton through this dedicated email box. We apologise if you have already received this notification through multiple routes.
